(AP) ? The New York Knicks expect Amare Stoudemire to miss 2 to 4 weeks while getting treatment on his back.

The Knicks said Wednesday he won't need season-ending back surgery.

Stoudemire is returning from Miami where he was given a second opinion on the bulging disk in his back. Both doctors agreed to treat the injury through rehabilitation, which will include an epidural for pain relief.

That could allow Stoudemire to return before the regular season ends April 26.

The Knicks hold the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
